  How to Adopt

EGGH is dedicated to finding loving forever home for every retired racer in our program.  Our adoption process of application, interview, and home visit will help us match the right greyhound to the right home.  Note that the greyhound is not for everyone and these dogs rely on us to place them into loving responsible homes. EGGH is available to help all adopters with any issues arising at any time.

We do not sell or give away greyhounds.  Finding a forever home for our retired racers is a process:

​1.     All potential adopters are asked to complete a written application, which
        ​gives us background information about the individual or family.

2.   The application is followed up by a telephone or in-person  interview

3.   The next step is an in-home visit.  We use this visit to gather information

       about what the family is looking for in a dog, what a family’s schedule is, its

       preferences, the safety of the home environment, as well as getting to know

       any other pets the family may have.

4.   Once an adopter has been approved, we will introduce the potential

      adopter to those greyhounds we feel are a good fit for their home.

Our non-refundable adoption donation of $300.00 helps us cover the expense of Spay/Neuter as well as other necessary vetting prior to placement in your home.
